By Erin Manion, Oak 5 Oak 5 has been hard at work in Dayton, Ohio with Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm. The team continues to advance on the organization’s central project, which takes form in a new public trail leading visitors from the nature center to the duck pond at the edge of the Aullwood farm. The trail will make for a more scenic and accessible trip from point A to point B for visitors.

Heather Franks of Norway was among the members of the Kirkwood Community College  graduating class of 2015 – 2016. College faculty and administration joined friends and family in saluting the graduates at commencement ceremonies at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, May 14.

Central College student Hailey Benson of Newhall presented research during Central's Undergraduate Research Symposium this spring. The event provided more than 200 students with the opportunity to showcase their research and projects in a variety of disciplines. Benson participated in the Independent Research in Chemistry symposium session with the presentation "Determination of p-coumaric acid in corn samples by fluorescence.

Rachel Danielle Gordon of Shellsburg has been named to the Deans' List/Explore Center List of Distinguished Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Gordon, a sophomore English major, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Arts and Sciences. Qualification for the Deans' List/List of Distinguished Students varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.

Upper Iowa University has announced its Dean's List for the 2016 Spring semester. To be honored, a student must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade point average for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student. The honorees included the following area students: Carmen Caruso, Dysart; Nikki Lown, Belle Plaine; Jordan Kearns, Van Horne; Elliana Lane, Vinton; Jacob Stenberg, Atkins; Quintin Taylor, Atkins.

Central College senior Colin Kramer of Urbana graduated May 14 in Pella, Iowa. Founded in 1853, Central College of Pella, Iowa, is a private, residential four-year liberal arts college known for its academic rigor and strength in global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), sustainability education, athletics success and tradition, and leadership and service.

Morningside College presented Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degrees to 145 spring graduates during its June 11 graduate commencement ceremony including:  Kari N.
